Current Information:Enlisted-London Ypres Reservoir Cemetery
On 2nd May, 1916, 1st Coldstream Guards of 2nd Guards Brigade, Guards Division were relieved from the front line at St Jean in the Ypres salient and moved a number of miles back to reserve positions in Poperinghe. The next day, 3rd May, there was an accident involving a shell (the Battalion Diary does no go into detail) and as a result, two men died and a further eight were wounded. It is possible that one of those killed was William Fuller, but it does leave a question mark as to why he was not buried in a cemetery in Poperinghe rather than one in Ypres. |
